Producers chase oil and liquids in western Canada's five hottest plays
The migration of capital towards oil and liquids-rich natural gas exploration shifted into overdrive in the last couple years as oil prices marched upward of $100 a barrel following social unrest in the Middle East and North Africa last spring. Modern horizontal multi-frac technology, originally developed to unlock shale gas, has unlocked oily target across the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin and something of light oil boom is underway.
