Alberta energy industry looks to Ron Liepert for sustainable prosperity
Talk about jumping from the frying pan into the fire. For the last few years, Ron Liepert has been at the epicentre of Alberta's spending cyclone, shepherding the highly controversial health ministry-at $15 billion, it's the department with the highest budget in the province-through a minefield of rising spending demands and shrinking government revenues.
Back in mid-January, Premier Ed Stelmach rescued Liepert from the stomach-churning pressure of health and wellness, but dropped him directly in the path of the next hurricane to hit provincial politics-the energy ministry.
