Nova Chemicals net profit in second quarter falls 78 per cent to US$18 million from $80 million (Nova-Chemicals)

PITTSBURGH, Pa. _ Nova Chemicals Corp. (TSX:NCX), a Canadian-American plastics and petrochemicals producer, reported a big in second quarter profits to US$18 million or 21 cents a share from US$80 million or 96 cents for the same 2007 period. Revenues rose to $2.2 billion from about $1.7 billion. Company took an $87 million charge on its feedstock derivatives contracts during the 2008 quarter to reflect current market values.
