Aecon joint venture wins $181 million contract for water filtration tunnels (Aecon-Vancouver)

TORONTO _ Aecon Group Inc. (TSX:ARE) said Tuesday that a joint venture has won a contract to complete the final three-kilometre section of two tunnels from a pumping station to a filtration plant.
The Seymour-Cap Partnership, which Aecon is a 30 per cent partner, will complete the final section of the total 7.1-kilometre twin tunnel from the Capilano Pumping Station to the Seymour-Capilano Filtration Plant.
Work on the project, which also includes excavation of two 270-metre deep shafts and interconnection of pipes from nearby watermains, will begin immediately.
It is expected to be completed at the end of 2012 or early in 2013.
Aecon´s partners in the Seymour-Cap Partnership are Frontier-Kemper Constructors and J.F. Shea Construction.
